Norsec's basic wind turbine is an easily fabricated, rapidly deployed design that is strong enough to withstand the worst that environments can throw at it.
While the wind turbine is optimized to produce power even on low atmosphere worlds, it performs best in denser environments. Output varies with wind speed, and during storms, may increase dramatically (up to 1kW), so be careful to design your power networks with that in mind.

The Wind Turbine is a tall wind power generating structure built from a Kit (Wind Turbine).

Wind turbines can generate a [[Wind_Turbine#Average_Power_Output|varying amount of energy based on the planet]]. However, during [[Storm|storms]], wind turbines will spin much faster and can produce upwards of 20,000W. Due to this, it is recommended to use [[Transformer|transformers]] when using wind turbines as your main source of power on planets like [[Europa]] and [[Mars]].

Despite their alarming speed during storms, wind turbine blades will not damage Stationeers upon impact.

== Generation == 

This generator outputs energy dependent on the demand, up to 20kW. In particular, it can be connected to a [[Cable Coil|cable coil]] if the demand is up to 5kW. Higher demand requires a [[Cable_Coil_(Heavy)|heavy cable coil]]. Demands lower than 20kW result in an energy loss, as this generator burns fuel at a constant rate independent of the demand.

Provides artificial sunlight to grow crops.

Crops need [[Water]] and sunlight to grow. Without water the plant will wither and die. Without sunlight/UV light it will stop growing, but won't wither.

[[Guide_(Farming)|Guide (Farming)]] provides additional info on how to setup farming with hydroponic tray.

==Illumination pattern==

The Illumination pattern of the Grow Light has changed as of the [[Update v0.2.6085.26682|Respawn Update: Round Robin Community Starts (Update v0.2.6085.26682)]].

Lighting area is not a focused cone but a 8x7 small grid rectangle with the light being projected out 3 small grids from each side of the grow light.

Previous to this update, the lighting area was a 7x6 rectangle centred on the small [[grid]] of the grow light containing the power connection.

Although ceiling mounting is more logical with regard to real plants growing, it is worth noting that floor mounting will provide the same illumination pattern with no downside.

Ceiling mounting grow lights two large grids above planters will not provide adequate light to the planters.

==Wall Mounting vs Ceiling Mounting==
Illumination Radius is at its maximum 2-4 '''<big>small grids</big>''' away which coincides with '''<big>one large grid size</big>''', so ceiling mounting has '''the best coverage of 41''', against 37 of wall mounting.
However this creates difficulty for [[LArRE]] or [[Harvie]] as those can only be mounted on ceiling. When either is expected to be used, wall mounting is more flexible then ceiling mounting. Note that Harvie requires space to either side of for chutes, so it can only harvest from trays with some separation between them; a Hydroponics LArRE does not have this limitation.

[[Steel Frames]] are a more advanced version of [[Iron Frames]] and are used in the same way. Steel Frames are cheaper than Iron Frames, requiring 2 [[Steel]] each instead of 4 [[Iron]].

Like Iron Frames, Steel Frames are built in multiple stages. The first stage allows everything to move through the center of the frame, the second stage allows gasses to go through, the third stage is completely solid and blocks atmosphere, while a fourth and final aesthetic only stage (as of the [[Update_v0.2.6085.26682|Respawn Update]]) uses a [[Plastic Sheets|Plastic Sheet]] and [[Screwdriver]] to give a smooth finish.

== Use ==
To place right-click with [[Steel Frames]] in hand and place in desired spot. then Left-Click to set it

To construct, use a lit [[Welder]] in active hand with [[Steel Sheets]] in the inactive hand. Each stage takes one sheet, for a total of two per frame.
