Description
This kit is used to crush ice into liquids and/or gases. The Ice Crusher has two outputs at the back. The top port can be connected to Pipes (yellow) and the lower port can be connected to Liquid Pipe (blue) to extract the products. The top pipe output is for Gas, and the lower pipe output is for Liquids. Different kinds of Ice can be crushed:
:Ice (Water) produces liquid Water and Nitrogen gas (80% water, 20% nitrogen)
:Ice (Oxite) produces Oxygen and Nitrogen gas (90% Oxygen, 10% nitrogen)
:Ice (Volatiles) produces Hydrogen gas (100% Hydrogen)
:Ice (Nitrice) produces Nitrogen and Nitrous_Oxide gas (90% Nitrogen, 10% Nitrous Oxide)

Refilling Water Bottles Early Game
The ice crusher can be used to get drinkable water early on, by connecting it to a Water Bottle Filler using Liquid Pipe and piping the Nitrogen out with a pump or an Active Vent to avoid blocking the ice crusher. Note however that if done inside, this could lead to pressure accumulating over time, which could be dangerous if not eventually upgraded to a more robust gas handling system.
Notes
* It can be safely used in higher temperature environments if the ice is transferred instantly into the crusher from the mining belt.
* When using it for crushing Ice (Water), 20% Nitrogen gas is still produced, and care must be taken to avoid overpressurization over time.
* It is insulated, so only the built in heater and the addition of gases from melting ice can change its internal temperature.
* Must be kept turned on to release the liquids and/or gases it contains.
* Has an internal capacity of 200L.
* Will not explode from overpressure of its internal capacity, but will stop crushing ice and flash an error if its internal pressure exceeds 125 MPa. It will resume crushing once its internal pressure drops below approximately 121 MPa.
* Outputs gas at a maximum rate of 9.231 MPa per tick into a single pipe segment (exactly 20 MPa into 6 pipe segments every 13 ticks), stopping once its internal pressure equals the pressure of the output port. This drops its internal pressure by 0.4615 MPa per tick.
* Can generate gas from crushing ice substantially faster than its maximum gas output rate, at a rate of approximately 5 MPa to its internal capacity per tick spent crushing ice.
* Changing the 'Setting' Value (represented in degrees kelvin) with IC/Logic circuits can dramatically speed up crushing times. For example, I changed my volatiles crusher from the default value to 273k(ice crusher are capped at 0°C/273.5k) and was able to process a stack of 50 volatiles in only 5 seconds.

}}
Description
Venus has an extreme atmosphere as its main challenge. High pressure of 250 KPa (2.5 times that of Earth's standard) at roughly +460 °C, it contains mostly Carbon Dioxide with some Nitrogen and a small amount of Pollutants. Extreme temperatures persist through day and night, and prevents the containment of mineable ice, therefore Venus has none. Surviving on Venus is a race against ever-present heat, that has to be isolated or eliminated using the various atmospheric devices. Nonetheless, having a thick atmosphere with occassional storms, being closer to the Sun than Earth, and featuring ample deposits of Coal, Venus makes Wind Turbines, Solar Panels, and Solid Fuel Generator equally effective sources of power, which makes it readily abundant.

Just like with Vulcan, Stationeers starting on Venus are provided with a full Hardsuit kit in order to survive the irregular atmosphere, and most tools are of Mark 2 model. The gas-fed Welder cannot be safely used in Venus's environment and thus replaced by an Arc Welder version. Similarly, the lack of access to frozen gases and water is compensated by a minimal set of trading equipment - Small Satellite Dish kit, Computer kit with Motherboard (Communications) included, Vending Machine kit, 10x Kit (Landing Pad) with Steel Sheets for building and powering a small (3x3) landing pad, as well as additional Iron Frames and Cables.

Standard construction package is modified to allow for making a bivalent airlock using the Circuitboard (Advanced Airlock) and two Active Vents. No farming seeds are included on the Landing Pod, but a more extensive package of preserved food and a full portable liquid tank of clean water are provided instead to last longer until self-sufficiency can be reached.

Early Challenges
* Immediately on arrival, the external heat will begin to bleed into the suit, which will be isolated by AC into the waste tank. Waste tank's Gas Canister will fill within 5-10 minutes using the suit's oxygen supply. Essentially, more Oxygen will be spent on capturing the waste heat, than on actually breathing it. Since Venus has no mineable ice to replenish oxygen, simply venting waste tank is not advisable and should be only done as last resort, if the delay threatens you taking lethal lung damage. Immediately reducing the Hardsuit's target pressure to ~30 KPa and increasing target temperature to ~30C will help minimize the convection rate between atmosphere and the helmet's head space, thus making the external heat more manageable.

* You are advised to quickly grab the building components from landing pod and assemble a standard airlock room as soon as possible. Install the Power Controller unit, cable it to both Active Vents inside the airlock, and attach all available gas pipes to them - 16-18 pipes to vent leading outside, and last 2-4 pipes leading inside. Use the first vent to evacuate atmosphere from the airlock, then vent the waste tank into vacuum and use the second vent to store its contents inside the pipes. You should be able to repeat this process at least twice again before pipes will become overpressurized. You can further extend the lifetime of this setup by quickly removing external pipes inward-out, which will empty the collected pipes, and installing them again, although some pipe segment can become damaged in the process.

* During the time allocated by the airlock, setup the Solid Fuel Generator, a Solar Panel, Arc Furnace, and Autolathe. Mine and smelt enough Iron, Copper and Gold ores for printing the Hydraulic Pipe Bender. While it is being produced, expand from the airlock using Iron Frames to create a living room. Use Pipe Bender to produce two Passive Vents, and attach them to the pipes, so that atmospheric gas could be released back outside, and stored waste gas would be let loose into the living room. Make sure the room is completely vented through the exterior vent before attaching internal passive vent. You will have to choose whether you will keep production machinery in the room for increased gain of waste heat and needed interior space, or keeping all of them outside, where you will spend Oxygen faster while feeding and operating them.

* Detach and carry the Portable Oxygen Tank from the Pod into the living room. Vent your Hardsuit Jetpack Nitrogen tank into the room (you're better off using the waste tank as jet fuel if needed), then add some oxygen from the Portable Tank up to a pressure of ~30 KPa - together with the waste gas, this will create a comfortable, breathable atmosphere, where you now can eat, drink, replenish oxygen tank and release waste tank to preserve the oxygen. At this point, you'd be able to take a respite and set up the next goals. Add storage solutions, move the remaining supplies to appropriate places, install the available devices to automate the airlock and recharge batteries, unpack the Portable Air Conditioner to maintain temperature, and so on.

Main Game Objectives
* Eventually, Portable Oxygen Tank will lose pressure, making it hard to replenish your suit's oxygen canisters by just plugging them into it. You'd also have to ocassionally refill the water bottles given to you from the Portable Liquid Tank. A single Portables Connector linked to a Water Bottle Filler and a Gas Tank Storage via appropriate pipes can accomodate both needs interchangeably, as the Connector handles liquids and gases separately. Make sure to power the Bottle Filler with cables, and have a powered Pressure Regulator leading into Tank Storage to pressurize the Oxygen into the canister to 10,000 KPa.

* Like on Vulcan, you will be required to establish a Trading infrastructure early, in order to obtain fuel for the Furnace. Contacting trader vessels takes time, therefore it is recommended to set up the Computer with Communications Motherboard in the living room. In addition to the provided kits, you'd want to install a control system for the Small Satellite Dish using simple Logic devices (given the initial lack of Steel to print the Integrated Circuit (IC10) chip). Purchase what you deem useful and don't miss the chance to sell anything that you can produce from pure metal ingots if the opportunity arises. You will be provided with additional funds on a Credit Card together with the kits.

* Buying seeds from certain Traders would allow you to grow plants for food, which also will convert Carbon Dioxide back into Oxygen (avoid Mushrooms though, as they also breath Oxygen). This will also require you to expand the living room, so make sure you vent out the room into pipes (add a Pipe Valve before the Passive Vent to keep it from releasing it back inside) before removing Iron Frames, as the completed Frames will contain a volume of hot exterior gas captured when they were welded shut.

* While it is technically possible to set up the Recycler and the Centrifuge to extract little Steel from some starting items, it is greatly more plausible to construct an operational Furnace and trade for Fuel. You can seek either Welding Fuel canisters, Oxygen and Volatile canisters, or liquid oxygen and volatile bottles. Welding Fuel comes as prepared mixture, however it is rare (if at all possible) to buy more than one such canister from a single trader, and one such canister won't provide enough temperature to smelt Steel. Pure gas canisters are optimal, and would require a basic setup for attaching canisters to pipes leading into a Gas Mixer feeding the Furnace. Liquid bottles can work as well, however they come cryogenically-sealed and has to be kept idle to thaw - plugging bottles into a Liquid Bottle Storage as-is will cause them to rapidly depressurize, and the contained liquids to freeze, causing an immediate pipe rupture and loss of the contents. Gaining Steel is one of the most important milestones to gain access to many important machines and devices, which is relatively trivial on most other planets.

* Station on Venus inevitably requires a more advanced cooling solution to be prepared before the Portable Air Conditioner exhausts its functionality. As with other starting locations, you have multiple solutions for dealing with excess heat - Dumping the waste gases, convecting heat, or radiating it into the vacuum environment. Dumping requires an excess of otherwise useless gas, which absorbs heat and then is vented into the atmosphere - this however is problematic on Venus, as no gas is readily available other than one that is already heated beyond function. As an option, you can purchase Pollutants from a trader (which will also pay you for doing so) and use it as a dumping agent due to its high specific heat capacity - this will require a Landing Pad with Atmospheric modules attached. Convection into the atmosphere would require a strong chain of Air Conditioners, which will produce progressively hotter gas, until it is heated above atmospheric temperature, which will then be exposed to the outside through any kind of convecting Radiators. On top of a substantial power upkeep, this solution requires essential knowledge about optimizing the work of Atmospheric device. Finally, radiating the heat requires a completely isolated vacuum chamber, where a long pipe with impressive numbers of Pipe Radiators is compacted to allow the contained gas to radiate excess heat as passive EM radiation. This solution requires no power upkeep on top of pumping the gas into the pipe, but has massive upfront cost and is relatively slow.

Secondary Notes
# Nitrogen Tank, which was suggested to be vented into the living space, can be used as secondary waste tank to double your time for external operations.
# Building the station into the hill or underground can allow you to expand the living space simply by mining the ground, as long as you won't inadvertedly breach that space to the outside. Don't forget to Quicksave.
# Iron Walls are plactically useless as such, as they cannot withstand the pressure differential, but can be used as catwalk panels or mounting surfaces where using Frames is unnecessary.
# Due to high atmospheric pressure, regular Pipes will readily convect heat into themselves and out to living spaces. Minimize exterior-interior crossfeed before switching to Insulated analogues.
# Once exhausted, Oxygen Tank can be reused as a storage medium for heated waste gas due to its good insulation and pressure capacity, until more advanced cooling and storing solutions are available.
# Heat of the atmosphere can be used for an immediate production of Electrum and Solder alloys. Former can be smelted with just sufficient pressure pumped into the Furnace, while latter will need some cooling using the filtered and cooled waste gases (such as excess Carbon Dioxide). You can also smelt Copper, Gold, and Silver, or pre-process other ores to remove gases from them for more efficient smelting, on demand and free of charge.
# Even Solar Panel(Basic) are very reliable sources of power. Always remember to dismantle and re-deploy them to restore their integrity and efficiency after a dust storm.
Venus has 9.1 MPa of Atmosphere at 460 °C.

The Hardsuit can survive more than 10 MPa of pressure, this file is only here as a reference for proof, even if the save is impossible.

Rules imposed by Engine:
* Items and Machines, including Power Controllers and Active Vents will degrade quickly outside, making a let's play impossible.
* It takes Eons to depressurize.
* Real Venus would require at the very least Blast Doors and all walls will have to be made with Iron or Steel Frames.
* Every voxel, above or below has 9MPa of gas trapped in it, you cannot dig a vacuum-base out without experiencing a blow-out, destroying the hardsuit.

"While the presence of coal isn't typical of Earth's Moon, the relatively flat terrain full of various sizable craters and lack of atmosphere may be more familiar in this grey landscape. A great location for the budding Stationeer to begin their journey, with fewer of the hazards and complexities offered on more exotic worlds"

As suggested, Moon is an inert stellar body perfect for the introduction to the Stationeers basic mechanics, as the lack of atmosphere presents the only real hazard for the player. Frozen gases and water are readily available for supplying pressure and fuel. The Earth, to which the Moon is tidally locked to, floats permanently above the horizon to the west, providing a fixed reference point for navigation, as the Sun traverses almost directly through the zenith, making solar power reliable and easy to set up. Moon features a relatively flat, cratered terrain with occassional chasms and can be mined to a great depth through its loose regolith.

"A desolate dusty red ball, Mars features more varied terrain that can reach into the sky, and a chilly atmosphere that's no good for breathing, but maybe it can be used for something ..."

Having only a semblance of an atmopshere, Mars challenges the player with the introduction of occassional dust storms, which puts the time limit for player to unload and stow away the supplies provided with the Drop Pod, makes it necessary to regularly maintain Solar Panels, and time long mining excursions wisely. The thin atmosphere contains useful gasses for growing plants and base pressurization, as long as they're collected and purified. It is possible to combine wind and solar energy generation, as neither source would be exclusively reliable. Mars features more varied terrain elevation, which is harder to traverse, but easier to navigate around.
Difficulty: Challenging

"Melting some of the ice on this cold world has finally given it an atmosphere, but its extremely frigid environment presents a serious challenge for the stationeers. The extreme cold will cause batteries to rapidly lose power, so getting a steady power source and warm location are your priorities."

Europa features a substantial, reliably cold atmosphere. Just as stated in the description, any type of a battery will gradually lose charge when exposed to it, and no living thing would survive it for long either despite being breathable. The player will have to leverage the waste heat produced by various processes to maintain living conditions on their station, primarily from smelting. Proper use of Insulated pipes and storage modules is paramount to screen both the extreme cold and heat until they're balanced to achieve the comfortable temperatures. Wind is a highly preferential power source, as the distance from the Sun and frequent storms makes use of solar panels impractical. Terrain features extreme elevations, easily obstructing the station's location, so careful navigation and optional use of Beacons is advised.
"A barren rock nestled under the wing of Saturn's spectacular rings. Mimas tiny stature is reflected in its extremely low gravity, and the Mimantean surface is saturated with impact craters from wayward ring occupants. It's distance from the sun provides little power from solar devices. Be very careful when walking or jumping, as you can travel a long way and gain a lot of speed due to the extremely low gravity."

Mimas is a barren satellite with no atmosphere, that is generally similar to the Moon. However, due to its great distance from the Sun, neither solar nor wind power is feasible, meaning that the player will have to rely exclusively on the fuel-based generators. Gravity is is extremely weak here, thus making it easier to traverse the world using the Jetpack, but rather awkward without it. The world features short days and almost pitch-black nights, so it is advised to have charged light-sources to find one's way around the treacherously rugged and potholed terrain.
Vulcan
Difficulty: Extreme

"A world torn apart due to massive tidal forces from the supermassive black hole it orbits. Vulcan offers little hope for any organism that ends up here, but it's fractured surface and rich mineral deposits make it a risky but profitable venture for enterprising traders. Watch out for the deep crevasses that lead to deadly magma flows beneath the surface!"

Vulcan is a small terrestrial planet suspended in a perpetual half-molten state. It has a wispy, but extremely hot atmosphere made primarily of Volatiles constantly above their autoignition temperature - that means, that any oxygen released into the atmosphere will immediately combust. Leaking oxygen from suit damage or releasing it from the waste tank will result in a player being set ablaze to their untimely demise. Vulcan is the only world start, which begins in the evening rather than morning, as it gives the player more time for initial setup, before the Janus (a black hole acting as its orbital parent) would pass over Vulcan's skies, resulting in a spike of pressure, temperature and solar irradiance. This spike may result in elevated production of waste gas for isolating the convected heat, which should be taken into account when being EVA.

Vulcan has a plane of deadly magma at its lowest level with deep cracks on the surface - landing into it will almost immediately destroy player's suit, followed by the player themselves and all of their carried belongings. As such, Vulcan is the only world that consists of islands of ground separated by the obstacles impassable by foot, requiring an attention to suit's propellant reserves. Islands themselves feature extreme elevations of rough basaltic rock shredded by deep cracks and fissures, making traversal difficult and deceptively dangerous. Mineable layer presents abundant and obvious ore deposits, menacing irradiation of Janus provide excessive solar power, and the hot atmosphere can be used to smelt the majority of metals and alloys all by itself. Everything else on this hellscape is poised to kill a careless player at any moment.

As Vulcan is a hot planet, no deposits of ice are present anywhere on its surface. On "Standard" start conditions, Players start on with a full Hardsuit equipped and Mark II toolset provided to survive and develop in its hostile environment. "Brutal (Hot Planet)" start condition only provide a regular EVA Suit, which limits the available time outside ("Extra Stational Activity") due to worse insulation, especially at daytime.

Starting farming kit and redundancies are completely removed and replaced by a basic trading assembly kit, initial credit deposit, an ample supply of preserved food and water, and additional building supplies. This is necessary as the only alternative path to acquire gases and fuel for early processing and habitation, which takes precedence over sustained food production.
Asteroid Belt
Difficulty: Challenging<br>

<i>"While there's no gravity or atmosphere, at least there's a lot of space to build! You'll find yourself among several asteroids that may contain various ores and ices you can use to survive out here."</i>

Asteroid Belt lies in between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. A location primarily consisting of empty space without gravity puts a great emphasis on player's ability to efficiently explore the area in search from ores and ices and managing their suit's Propellant. This might be better or worse based on the random generator producing the asteroids, as travel distances may vary greatly based on that. Since there's very little terrain, a player should use the Beacon to navigate away and back to your station and not getting lost in the dark.

As stated by the description, there's all the open space one would ever want, and the Sun crossing across the horizon can be exploited as perpetual energy source using the articulated solar panels, though the distance from it provide a rather mediocre level of power output. Player's Lander hovers about the starting location with no physical support, meaning that it might drift away if pushed inadveredly. It's advisable to clear its cargo as soon as the station location is chosen to avoid losing the sight of it, preferably pushing the Lander closer to it to reduce propellant expense.
Venus
Difficulty: Extreme

"Unvarying extreme temperatures and ultra-high pressures make Venus no place for the faint-hearted. Only the most accomplished Stationeers will survive on this hellscape a barren rock. Dig deep, or go home."

Venus has one and only hazard - an atmosphere that is both immensely dense (~2.5 times Earth's pressure, equivalent to a ~15 meter dive into the ocean) and consistently hot (slightly above the melting point of Zinc). High pressure makes Kit (Iron Wall) practically useless, as iron walls are too weak to endure the differential even around a fully-pressurized habitat, and the creeping heat locks the player in a perpetual struggle to insulate against, isolate, and eventually over-convect or radiate it away, as not to get cooked inside of their own station.

Venus orbits the Sun much closer than Earth, resulting in efficient solar irradiance, while dense atmosphere with occassional storms grants strong winds, making renewable energy readily available, and fuel-based generation largely superfluous. On top of that, it also has a shallow mineable layer, but a gentle and friendly elevations with abundant ore deposits scattered across the surface. All of these resources has to be leveraged to fight the unrelenting heat by any of the principles and devices the Stationeers has to offer.

As Venus is a hot planet, no deposits of ice are present anywhere on its surface. Players start with a full Hardsuit equipped and Mark II toolset provided to survive and develop in its hostile environment. Starting farming kit and redundancies are completely removed and replaced by a basic Trading assembly kit, initial credit deposit, an ample supply of preserved food and water, and additional building supplies. This is necessary as the only alternative path to acquire gases and fuel for early processing and habitation, which takes presedence over sustained food production.
Loulan has a breathable atmosphere and the temperature range is not hazardous. It has ruined structures scattered across the terrain which can be scavenged for building supplies. The player starts with a Hardsuit Backpack, and a Headlamp, but without a helmet or suit and this is not a serious handicap. A Jetpack is not part of the starting equipment. Battery charging is not a matter of life and death, but without batteries the headlamp will not light your way at night.

The greatest challenge is food since seeds are not part of the starting equipment. The player must either scavenge some seeds from ruins, trade, or use an Organics Printer to create them. While the gas mix is compatible with farming, the low night temperature is not, so a greenhouse must be operated at the right temperature. The easiest way is to open up the airlock during the day with warm 20 degrees air, and close it at night.
