[[Switch]] Grass can be grown in [[hydroponics]] to yield 15 Hay and 1 Switch Grass Seed when fully grown. They do not need to be replanted after being harvested. Switch Grass's high yield per harvest makes it ideal for use in [[Advanced Composter|Composting]] or for the creation of [[Biomass]] with a [[Recycler]]. However, Switch Grass is inedible to [[Stationeers]].

Mushrooms can be grown in [[hydroponics]] without [[light]] to yield 3 Mushrooms and 1 Mushroom Seed when fully grown. They must be replanted after being harvested, using either a Mushroom Seed or a raw Mushroom. Unlike other [[plants]], mushrooms will be damaged when exposed to sunlight or [[Grow Light|Grow Lights]]. Mushrooms are not damaged by exposure to suit lights, [[Portable Light|Portable Lights]], or normal [[Wall Light||Wall Lights]], only sunlight and Grow Lights.

As they are fungi, mushrooms consume O2 and produce CO2, the opposite of how other [[food]] crops work (a change, according to the implementation notes, intended to align with how fungi function in the real [[world]]<ref name="patchnotes">Official Steam patchnotes [https://store.steampowered.com/newshub/app/544550/view/2950386280126882874 Steam Newshub]</ref>).
