Stationpedia

Designed to burn anywhere in the Solar System, the EZC magnesium fusee supplies its own oxygen to fuel combustion, and dispel the eternal night of space.

Description

Road Flares are part of the starting gear and provide short-duration illumination with a distinct red glow. Each flare burns for approximately 3 minutes before burning out. While lit, the flare continuously releases heat energy into the surrounding atmosphere, and can ignite combustible gas mixtures in the area. They can be painted with Spray Paint to change their glow color.

Usage

Hold secondary use to light a flare while holding it. Lit flares can be thrown by pressing the throw key. A single flare separates from the stack when lit, leaving the remainder in hand.

Flares add heat to the local atmosphere each tick while burning. This makes them useful as a cheap heat source, but caution is required around combustible gas mixtures. If ignition is a concern, consider using a Chem Light instead.

A lit flare placed inside a container with an internal atmosphere (such as a Portable Gas Tank) will heat and potentially ignite the gas stored inside.

Road flares can also be loaded into a Flare Gun as ammunition, in which case the fired flare deploys a parachute and descends slowly to provide overhead illumination.
