<br>Traders are NPCs that can be called via a Computer with a Motherboard (Communication) installed.
<br>
<br>They will buy and sell any kind of object with the player:
<br>
<br>After the player interacts with a Trader, the game will open a GUI where the player will select the item to buy or to sell.
<br>The same interface is used to tell to the Trader to depart.

Traders are NPC ships that can be summoned to a Landing Pad using a Satellite Dish and Computer. Each trader type carries a fixed inventory of goods to sell to the player and a list of items or resources they will buy. Prices are fixed per visit; stock quantities for bulk goods scale with the ship size.

For a step-by-step guide to setting up and using the trading system, see Guide (Trading).

Contact Slots
The Satellite Dish contacts traders through one of five contact slots. Each slot determines which ship type arrives, the dish power required to make contact, how long negotiations take, how long the signal remains detectable, and the downtime before the next contact appears.

The min. watts to appear is the minimum wattage that must reach the contact for it to enter the signal list and begin resolving. Contacts below this threshold are invisible to the dish regardless of aim. Utility and Basic contacts have no floor and will appear at any detectable power level. The contact time is the base duration of the negotiation phase: how long the dish must continuously transmit after pressing Interrogate before the contact is established. This is the time at the minimum required wattage; supplying more power shortens it proportionally (double the minimum wattage halves the time). The value is randomised per visit within the range shown. The signal window is how long you have to detect and successfully interrogate the contact before it disappears. The downtime timer starts when a contact's signal window expires and controls how long before the next contact for that slot appears.

Utility vs. Basic: Both use an identical small shuttle and require the same dish power. The only functional difference is downtime: Utility traders have a 5–10 minute cooldown between visits, while Basic traders are available again within 30 seconds. Food, Hardware, Consumables, and Appliance traders all use the Utility slot, making them significantly less frequent despite appearing to require the same equipment.

Exotics: Requires high dish power and has the longest downtime (20–40 minutes). The Exotics slot is the only slot with any atmosphere requirement. Crucially, this does not block contact or landing; the trader will dock regardless of conditions. The atmosphere is instead checked continuously while the trader is landed to control the ship's doors: they open only when the pad has safe pressure, temperature between 0°C and 50°C, low toxins, and sufficient oxygen. If conditions degrade mid-visit, the doors close and trading suspends until the atmosphere is restored.

One trader per slot at a time: Only one trader of each contact slot type (landed or in transit) can be present at any given time. A second trader of the same slot type will not appear until the current one has departed and cleared the area.

Landing Pad Requirements
Each shuttle type requires a minimum landing pad size. Plane variants additionally require a clear runway of a fixed length in the approach direction, indicated by the arrow on the Landing Pad Center.

Shuttle Type !! Pad Size !! Runway Length
Small (standard or gas) || 3×3 || None
Medium (standard or gas) || 5×5 || None
Medium Plane || 7×7 || 15 blocks
Large (standard or gas) || 6×6 || None
Large Plane || 9×9 || 20 blocks

Storm Behaviour
During a storm, regular shuttle traders (Small, Medium, and Large, including gas variants) cannot land. Plane traders (Medium Plane and Large Plane) are unaffected and can land normally during a storm. All trader types can depart during a storm regardless of ship type.

Bulk Scaling
Many goods are listed as bulk items. The quantity delivered or required scales with the contact slot's bulk multiplier. Stock and required quantities in the tables below are base values (at ×1.0 multiplier).

Slot !! Bulk Multiplier
Utility || ×0.5
Basic || ×0.5
Medium || ×1.0
Large || ×2.0
Exotics || ×0.5

For example, a sell item with a base stock of 800 (Bulk) delivers 400 units from a Basic or Utility ship, 800 from a Medium ship, and 1,600 from a Large ship.

IC10 Automation
The Satellite Dish exposes a logic variable <code>ContactTypeId</code> that identifies the currently tracked trader type. This is a Unity hash of the trader's internal ID string and can be used with an Integrated Circuit (IC10) to automate dish tracking and contact selection. Values for each trader type:

The "Chance" column indicates the probability that a given trader requests this bundle on any particular visit. "Will Buy" is the maximum number of bundles the trader will accept per visit (scaled by Bulk multiplier where applicable); you can sell any amount up to that number, and partial sales are always accepted.

Update
Items Purchased
Since trading update 5, Landing Pads in Stationeers have changed to give you more choices. Now you can place them on different tiles with different options. The smallest Landing Pad that works is a 3x3 square, and it needs a centerpiece in the middle. When a Trader shuttle arrives, it lands right in the middle of the centerpiece. The Landingpad center has an arrow showing which way the shuttles come and go. It's really important to make sure nothing blocks the arrow's path. That way, the shuttles can move smoothly without any problems. The shuttles usually land and take off at an angle of about 50 to 60 degrees.

Once your Landing Pad is ready, you can check the computer terminal to see what size landing pad each available shuttle needs.
Standard supplies accepted: Hardsuit Package, Oxygen Replenishment, Water Replenishment, Ship Refuel, Ship Repair Package.

There are six types of shuttles, including small, medium, and large ones, with normal and gas options. Shuttles can either use a runway or make a vertical descent to land. Small shuttles need a 3x3 pad, medium shuttles need a 5x5 or 7x7 pad, and large shuttles need a 6x6 or 9x9 pad. Some medium shuttles require a 15 block runway, and some large shuttles require a 20 block runway. Having multiple pads lets you trade with more Traders who visit your station. In order to find them you will need larger satellite dishes to send power to the shuttles and planes landing.
Note: Consumables Trader does not accept any food bundles. Consumables Trader has no trader-specific purchases.

If you want to trade with human Traders, you'll need to create a hangar with air they can breathe. Large shuttles and planes sometimes have human Traders inside. These Traders won't come out and trade unless there's air in the hangar. So, make sure you build a pressurized hangar to accommodate them.

The trader will land regardless of atmosphere. The ship's doors (and therefore trading) will only open while the landing pad has safe pressure, 0–50°C temperature, low toxins, and sufficient oxygen. This is checked continuously while the trader is landed; if conditions degrade, the doors close until the atmosphere is restored.

== Requirements == <!--T:2-->
Contact Requirements
To call a Trader the following things are necessary:
* A Landing Pad area at least of size 3x3. Bigger landing pad = bigger shuttles up to 9x9.
* With a Landingpad center. Mind the arrow for the shuttle approach/departure direction. They tend to approach at a 50 to 60 degree angle towards the pad.
Directly in touch with a:
* A landingpad Data and Power
Which has a data- and power port. This must be connected with cables to a cable network with the following attached.
* A Computer with a Motherboard (Communication) installed (to call the Trader).
* A Satellite Dish (for tracking the Trader)
* A Vending Machine or Vending Machine Refrigerated if you want to buy/sell large quantities. You can buy and sell items from your hand slots if you do not have a vending machine.
Then do the following:
* Power everything up, and connect on the same network. When using the Computer, you can select which pad and Satellite Dish you want to utilize. If there is one of each, there is not much to choose from :).
* Track a Trader signal with the Satellite Dish. There are buttons on the Satellite Dish. If you want to go pro, you can automate it using another computer, but all you need to do simple automation is 2 logic readers, 2 logic writers and two dials. Set one logic reader and writer pair to read one dial, and the other to read the other dial, set one of the logic writers to output the value of the dial to the horizonal (max dial setting 360) and the other logic writer to the vertical setting on the satellite dish (max setting 90).
* Be sure you turn the power dial up on your satellite dish to send the signal to the trader ship. This sends the signal faster when negotiating with the trader.
* You do not have to be perfectly at 0 degrees from the traders when you have their signal as long as you meet the minimum power requirements. (upgrade your satellite dish for more power and smaller ships like the 3x3 can be negotiated from the opposite direction 100+ degrees off) but keep in mind the medium satellite dish can exceed the power rating of low voltage cables and will burn them out if you try to negotiate with more power than the line can hold. You should also consider the other devices on the network as well.
* Once you have locked a target, negotiate the trader. This will take time depending on your max power output, their ship's requirements, and the dish alignment.
* Once you have negotiated then the landing request option will be available.
* A trader will NEVER leave your pad until you depart them from the trade window. You can basically hold one hostage if you want but you cannot land anyone else without additional landing pads. Keep in mind that only one of each tier of trader will ever be spawned at a given time, including ones that are landed. (If you have a 3x3 landed, no more 3x3 ships will spawn until you depart your trader)
* Trade with the trader and once you're done with them, click depart. (No you can't stow away in their ships, you will just fall out when they warp away.)

Gas and liquid
If you want to trade gas or liquid, you can use:

* landingpad gas output
* landingpad liquid input
* landingpad liquid output
Input and output modules have pipe connections with their own volume pump (button) to pump in and out gases.
Buying and selling is done per 100 moles.

Both gas and liquid will store in your landingpad gas storage tank but must be removed and added by use of the appropriate landing pad atmospherics kits: landingpad liquid output, landingpad liquid input for liquids and landingpad gas output, landingpad gas output for gasses. Both will be stored inside landingpad gas storage. Multiple storage tanks will increase the maximum moles you can store on the pad. These tanks are not insulated so you will need to build a room around the tanks and either vent the world air around it to maintain a vacuum or pressurize it to the holding temperatures you want to keep. At this time there is no way to insulate the pad other than this method. (Update this if you have any additional information or ideas)

Do not forget to flush your landingpad gas storage using landingpad gas output or landingpad liquid output if you want to export a different kind of gas or they will mix in your output line. You can setup a gas capturing system to capture gasses and filter out the various gasses after pumping it off your pad.
Items for Sale
In order to sell gasses and liquids to traders, you will need to make sure the gas temperature in the landingpad gas storage has a comfy temperature prior to pumping it to your pad to trade. The gasses must be pumped in the appropriate temperature before the trader will accept the gas or liquid. Hover over the icon in the sell window to find out what the trader wants the temperature range to be. These vary between gasses.

Old preview image for the trading feature showing now deprecated landing pad

Traders are NPC ships that can be summoned to a Landing Pad using a Satellite Dish and Computer. Each trader type carries a fixed inventory of goods to sell to the player and a list of items or resources they will buy. Prices are fixed per visit; stock quantities for bulk goods scale with the ship size.

For a step-by-step guide to setting up and using the trading system, see Guide (Trading).

Mechanics

Slot Ship Type Min. Watts to Appear Min. Power to Contact Contact Time Signal Window Downtime Special Requirement
Utility Small Shuttle 0 W 25–30 W 20–30 s ~20 min 300–600 s (5–10 min)
Basic Small Shuttle 0 W 25–30 W 20–30 s ~20 min 30 s
Medium Medium Shuttle or Plane 20 W 180–200 W 60–120 s ~20 min 30–60 s
Large Large Shuttle or Plane 250 W 6,000–8,000 W 400–600 s ~30 min 60–120 s
Exotics Small Shuttle 100 W 6,000–8,000 W 400–600 s ~30 min 1,200–2,400 s (20–40 min) Human atmosphere required to trade

Shuttle Type Pad Size Runway Length
Small (standard or gas) 3×3 None
Medium (standard or gas) 5×5 None
Medium Plane 7×7 15 blocks
Large (standard or gas) 6×6 None
Large Plane 9×9 20 blocks

Storm Behaviour

During a storm, regular shuttle traders (Small, Medium, and Large, including gas variants) cannot land. Plane traders (Medium Plane and Large Plane) are unaffected and can land normally during a storm. All trader types can depart during a storm regardless of ship type.

Bulk Scaling

Many goods are listed as bulk items. The quantity delivered or required scales with the contact slot's bulk multiplier. Stock and required quantities in the tables below are base values (at ×1.0 multiplier).

Slot Bulk Multiplier
Utility ×0.5
Basic ×0.5
Medium ×1.0
Large ×2.0
Exotics ×0.5

For example, a sell item with a base stock of 800 (Bulk) delivers 400 units from a Basic or Utility ship, 800 from a Medium ship, and 1,600 from a Large ship.

IC10 Automation

The Satellite Dish exposes a logic variable ContactTypeId that identifies the currently tracked trader type. This is a Unity hash of the trader's internal ID string and can be used with an Integrated Circuit (IC10) to automate dish tracking and contact selection. Values for each trader type:

Genetics Trader

Sells rare plants, genetically modified crops, and fertilized eggs. Only available via the Exotics slot, requiring a human-breathable atmosphere at the station. The long downtime (20–40 minutes) makes this one of the rarest traders in the game.

Possible names: Genetic Engineering

Contact Requirements

Slot Ship Type Min. Power Downtime Special Requirement
Exotics Small Shuttle 6,000–8,000 W 1,200–2,400 s (20–40 min) Human atmosphere to open doors
