Stationpedia

Helium is a fully inert gas that will neither freeze nor condense into liquid, making it an excellent working gas in atmospherics systems that must avoid phase change.

Usage

Helium is the only monoatomic gas in-game, giving it an unrivaled heat capacity ratio of 1.666666. This, along with its low molar mass, give make it ideal as a pressurant in specialized rocketry applications where Hydrogen isn't suitable.

It is also completely inert, being incapable of freezing or condensing into a liquid form. This allows its use as a non-phase-changing heat exchange medium in extremely low temperature applications.

Notes

  • Breathing helium will increase pitch of vocal efforts.

Sources

Helium can be acquired from gas traders and Rocket Gas Collectors.
